Mixing fraction in classical novae

چکیده

Context. Classical novae are powered by thermonuclear runaways occurring on the surface of accreting white dwarfs (WDs). In observations, enrichments heavy elements in nova ejecta have been detected, indicating a mixing process between accreted matter and from outer layers underlying WDs prior to outbursts. However, fraction classical is still uncertain. Aims. The purpose this article investigate some elemental abundance ratios during outbursts that can be used estimate WD novae. Methods. By considering different fractions with stellar evolution code Modules for Experiments Stellar Astrophysics, we carried out series simulations outbursts, which initial CO masses range 0.7−1.0 M ⊙ . Results. We identified four (i.e. (H + He)/∑CNO, He)/Ne, ∑CNO/Mg, ∑CNO/Si) satisfy conditions determining fraction, He)/∑CNO most suitable meter. also estimated representative Additionally, found higher metallicity fraction) preferentially accompanied longer t 2 (the time decline two magnitudes peak luminosity) Our results constrain

Nucleosynthesis in Classical Novae

A general review of the relevance of classical novae for the chemical evolution of the Galaxy, as well as for Galactic radioactivity is presented. A special emphasis is put on the pioneering work done by Jim Truran in this field of research. The impact of recent developments in nuclear astrophysics on nova nucleosynthesis, together with the prospects for observability of novae radioactivities w...

Recurrent Novae , Classical Novae , Symbiotic Novae , and Population II

Light curve analysis of decay phase of nova outburst are summarized. Nova duration is determined by the strong wind mass-loss which depends only on the white dwarf mass. Fast novae correspond very massive white dwarfs and very slow novae correspond almost lower mass limit of white dwarfs. This relation is shown in both of classical novae and recurrent novae. Light curves are theoretically repro...

Rebrightening Phenomenon in Classical Novae

Two classical novae V1493 Aql and V2362 Cyg were known to exhibit unprecedented large-amplitude rebrightening during the late stage of their evolution. We analyzed common properties in these two light curves. We show that these unusual light curves are very well expressed by a combination of power-law decline, omnipresent in fast novae, and exponential brightening. We propose a schematic interp...

Observations of Classical Novae

The new γ-ray burst (GRB) mission Swift has obtained pointed observations of several classical novae in outburst. We analyzed all the observations of classical novae from the Swift archive up to 30 June, 2006. We analyzed usable observations of 12 classical novae and found 4 non-detections, 3 weak sources and 5 strong sources. This includes detections of 2 novae exhibiting spectra resembling th...

On Heavy Element Enrichment in Classical Novae

Many classical nova ejecta are enriched in CNO and Ne. Rosner et al. recently suggested that the enrichment might originate in the resonant interaction between large-scale shear flows in the accreted H/He envelope and gravity waves at the interface between the envelope and the underlying C/O white dwarf. The shear flow amplifies the waves, which eventually form cusps and break. This wave breaki...
